Hello everyone! My name is Katrina Wiggins. I am 24 years old and was born and raised in a small town in North Carolina. Throughout my life, I was always struggling to find my voice within the arts. I’ve tried many things from music, dance, theatre, painting, and fashion design.
After high school, I wanted to go to college to receive a degree in Fashion Design. While I was in college obtaining my Associate’s degree, I realized it was not my calling. I finished through though because my Mom always taught me to never give up or quit.
After graduating, while I was still finding my voice, I realized I enjoyed designing my fashion lines on the computer rather than creating a physical, sewn-together piece. This is when I decided that graphic design might be my calling.
While searching for the right fit, I had begun designing artwork and other content at home for my boyfriend (who is a musician) and this is where I began learning things before beginning school again. While still learning and designing at home, I took the time to find a college that would best work for me to gain my degree in Graphic Design. That’s when I found Independence University and began my journey.
Since enrolling, I have graduated and received my Associate’s degree in Graphic Design.
I then re-enrolled to obtain my Bachelor’s Degree, which I am still currently working towards. I continue to grow as a designer while going through school and now creating social media content, promotional videos, artwork, clothing designs, performance videos, and much more. Recently, I started a new job as a content creator for a locally owned business in Charlotte, NC. So I am booked throughout my days designing and creating and that is one thing I would not trade for anything. I am happy to say I can do what I love almost every moment of every day!
